Switch Headlamps On
Where: On any road, especially in mountainous areas or before entering a tunnel. May also appear in areas with poor visibility, such as fog-prone zones, shaded roads, or during adverse weather conditions.
Purpose: To indicate that drivers must switch on their vehicle's headlights. It ensures that your vehicle is visible to other road users and that you can see the road clearly in areas with reduced lighting or visibility, enhancing road safety in tunnels, sharp bends, or mountainous terrain.
Action Required by Driver: Switch on your vehicle lights in the dipped/headlamp position (not full-beam) unless otherwise indicated.
- Check your lights — make sure all lights are functioning correctly, including front and rear lights.
- Adjust for conditions — reduce speed if visibility is limited and remain alert for other vehicles, cyclists, or pedestrians.
- Keep them on — do not switch off your headlights until it is safe and visibility has returned to normal.
