Height Limit
Where: Displayed on any public road where there is a height restriction ahead, typically before low bridges, tunnels, overhead structures, or overhead power lines.
Purpose: To warn drivers that vehicles exceeding a certain height (as indicated in metres on the sign) cannot safely pass under the obstruction ahead. This helps prevent damage to vehicles, infrastructure, and ensures the safety of all road users.
Action Required by Driver: Before proceeding, check the height of your vehicle, including any load. If your vehicle or load exceeds the indicated height, you must not continue on that road.
- Use an alternative route — one that can safely accommodate the height of your vehicle.
- Watch for advance warnings — always pay attention to warning signs that may appear before the actual restriction to give you time to divert.
